oh this is so frustrating first they say we qualify then they say we don't.........

All I know is we lost quite a few shingles our master bed room started leaking badly, the sheet rock was sagging and looked as if it was gonna cave in.....then last night we got a bad storm (from that cold front trying to move in) down came the rain and down came our bed room ceiling.........our carpet is soaked our ceiling has caved.

we still don't have power and our bed room is gonna mold...........and FEMA is jacking with us.

We are now camping out in our living room on the couch.

even with homeowners ins, who is there to help them right now? FEMA, but FEMA says they don't qualify. Even if the ins cut them a check today, who is gonna start the repairs? there's prolly gonna be at least 20-30K homes that need immediate repairs right NOW!! And that's a very conservative estimate. Then there are the many large businesses and city structures that will likely get the attention first. there wont be enough contractors to go around.

Sorry to hear that guys

we do not have home owners because our home didn't qualify........we live in a home that is over 100 years old and they would not quaily us until we had proof that we had up to date plumbing, electrical and roof.

We have tried to insure our home for a long time and kept getting turnned down

I was not aware FEMA could assist with contractors. I thought they only provided financial assistance and emergency subsistance goods.

Well, I have my "undocumented worker" card and can come help re-roof that sucker. Maybe Crux can bring some of his Esses with him and we could knock it out in a day!

i know FEMA doesnt help with contractors. I was just trying to emphasize the fact that there are thousands (according to KSAT12) without power and water. Most people affected have no income at this time. FEMA is supposed to help with $$, food, ice, and fuel for generators aren't they?

YES THEY HELP WITH $$$, FOOD WATER, ETC......

But at this time G and I are unemployed.......RockRash4x4 is doing ok but not good enough for us to afford a bunch of repairs etc........

If Fema helped out on gas or food we could take the $$ saved for that stuff and get the repairs done.

But we will see I am supose to meet with a FEMA agent in 3 to 7 days and maybe they will then give us a stright answer!

Thanks Renee....it really means a lot to us! But right now with gas the way it is it would be better for you guys to stay there.

We have gotten our bedroom cleaned out, now we are just waiting for it to dry out.

The only thing we might need help with is Roofing the house but we can't start that until we get the materials, not sure how long it's gonna be before the stores have everything we need.
