PostSubject: Another Jeep "Show and Shine"   Wed 12 Oct 2011, 2:34 pm

I joined the Jeep Nation family just over a year ago. I say family because Jeep Nation came out in force to support a newbie member and it impressed me quite a bit. I recall that 16 rigs showed up that day at my church fall festival. We all stretched down the parking lot in an impressive array of mini-van engine powered rock crawling splendor. Third Wave even put on an amazing display of rock-crawling ability in his, then stock" Rubicon (See pics below). The Jeeps were among the top draws in last years event, and planners were so impressed that they requested to have you all out again. This years event is on Saturday, November 5, 2011 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Plans are just now coming together, and I will post more information here as I get it, but you guys and gals are a definite want for the event.

Here are a few teaser pics from last years event.

Please post up if you are interested in participating in the event. Don't let the term show and shine scare anybody away. We all know that our rigs look just as good dirty as the do clean. cheers

Thanks,

David

Thanks, Guys! I really appreciate your help.

I'm working on some other events for the festival. I'm currently in contact with a local Army recruiter (thanks, Robert!) to see if we can get some Humvees and a helicopter out on the grounds. The helo is a long shot, but we're working it. We might go with the SAPD Blue Eagle helo also. We will only have room for one helo, so it will have to be one or the other. I'm expecting more details on the event today. I will re-post more information after I get it.

Thanks again guys for helping.

PostSubject: Re: Another Jeep "Show and Shine"   Mon 31 Oct 2011, 11:29 am

OK, so here are some updates on the festival for this weekend. We will have food. Nothing as elegant as lobster bisque or anything, but there will be food. The church will have hot dogs, chips, popcorn, nuts, & fruit. For drinks there will be iced tea, lemonade, bottled water, & coffee. All food and drink items are being sold for small amounts. I think the most expensive items are the hot dogs and the water at $1.00 each. As a thanks to all of you who participate, I will cover whatever any Jeep Nation member spends on food and drinks at the event. Just tell the people at the food/drink booth you are with Jeep Nation. Thanks!

As far as activities at the festival, we will have bingo for adults and for children. The children will be getting some kind of prize. I'm not sure if anything beyond bragging rights will be given for the adult bingo. There will also be blood pressure checks and various information booths. We have been working on getting the Army out with some Hum-vees, but I don't have a very good feeling about it. We've also contacted Marines, Air Force, and Navy recruiters. An SAPD S.A.F.E. Seargent is in the works as is an SAFD firetruck.

Finally, on display there will be a NASCAR, some Mustangs, some Vipers, and last, but certainly not least, our Jeeps. We will have our new banner flying for all to see as well. With that said, here are those who are coming thus far...

Lonestar Rubi
Chris?
Ingramsatx
Jeepbronco1?
Thorbyfour

I will be there briefly at the beginning of the event to help get everybody setup but will have to leave for my nephew's wedding in Comfort shortly thereafter. If you wish to come and show your rig, dirty or clean, post up and I will add you to the list. I really appreciate everybody who comes out. Remember, afternoon snacks and drinks bought at the festival are on me!

One of my boys has a football game and we would not be able to come by until 3ish.

Don't let the lack of a windshield or the fact that you can't come until 3:00 stop you. Come on out!

Stock rigs are good too. Just look at the teaser pics I posted. Third Wave put his stock Jeep on a chunk of limestone he brought with him. Feature it!

That's the spirit, Thor! Bring what you've got and hang with your Jeep Nation brothers and sisters for a while. Besides, all the food bought from the festival by Jeep Nation is on my nickel anyway.

I know last year the gang decided to go to Chester's Hamburgers and hang out afterwards. I don't know what will happen this year, but anything is possible. So then, the updated list is as follows:

Lonestar Rubi
Chris?
Ingramsatx
Jeepbronco1?
Thorbyfour
Texas-kid?
Renee10
Duke (3:00-ish)
j_michael2004

That put's us at 9. Last year we had 12 on the list and 16 came out. What's gonna happen this year? Oh my...

Good news for all attending. We will be parking our Jeeps "off-road". That's right we are going to park on the grass. The reason being, is that we are expecting a NASCAR car with tents and a trailer, mustangs, vipers, and possibly any number of other classic hot rod type vehicles. We are also expecting between 1 & 3 police vehicles and at least 2 fire trucks.

I have provided some images of the church and our area, courtesy of Google Maps for the benefit of everyone. In case you do not know where the church is, I have also provided a Google Maps link to the map.
