PostSubject: In a bind   Wed 05 Oct 2011, 4:04 pm

I am located in Corpus. However, I find myself in a bind. That is, I have been working on my jeep for some time now, well actually someone else has I have just been putting the money into it. Well he had been doing such a good job that I was paying him ahead of time. Well he recently decided he does not want to finish and now I have to tow it to my house.

That is not the problem. The problem is, I need to find someone in this area who know how to install both sets of steering stabilizers that I have, a cat-back exhaust, and reseal my transfer-case since I bought a used one and am making sure all the seals are good (it is a kit). I have money but not alot of money, I live off of a teachers salary. Anyone interested in this part of Texas? Or no of good shops that will not screw you over?

What year is your jeep? ...steering stabilizer is real easy to install, is the cat-back a bolt-on or need to be welded? replacing the seals on a np231 (YJ and TJ models) is real easy also, I rebuild mine.

Search online, there are usually good DIY instructions, you will be surprise how easy some things/install are. If you need any special tool you can usually rent them at auto parts store for free.

You can also set an install party and I am sure any of the Corpus folks including me would be happy to show you how to install your parts.

Raul

PostSubject: Thanks   Wed 05 Oct 2011, 5:23 pm

I would appreciate that. I do not have any tools since the last time someone broke into the shed. But I am sure if we all get together someone will have a tool. I could bbq and supply drinks? I do like to learn things for sure, and I am not lazy by any standards. The transfer case is actually 249j cause I didn't want to do the swap, so I bought a used one but with only 10k miles.

I only need the stabilizers done and exhaust, and the rest is just the drive shafts (Tom Wood's) and the sealing of the transfer case.

Would you be interested?

Sorry bro just caught this thread. Do the weekend of the 29th and I'm in as well. Raul is right, all this will be easy and done in less than a couple hours. However, for your own good order this part

http://www.jeepswag.com/jeep_jk_steering_stabilzier_relcoation_kit/index.html

I am going to be installing this on my Jeep Saturday, and the guy who owns this site is about as cool and honest as they come. Get the 34$ dollar bracket and lets get this done Smile

PostSubject: Re: In a bind   Sat 08 Oct 2011, 12:23 pm

I will post pictures of my jeep this weekend. It is a zj V8 with 249j. So far it has 5.5 IRO lift with Long Arm, thorley headers,

What is waiting to be installed: Pitman Arm, Sway Bars, Cat-Back system, double-action steering stabilizer, and stabilizer, transfer case (kit) and something else I cannot remember.

It has a customer front bumper with some super-swampers, which I am going to change out due to thread left.

Things I need to buy: drive shafts (Tom Wood's maybe?)

I wanted to do the conversion for the transfercase but it seems a bit expensive and complicated for me. Any suggestions?

yeah, jumped the gun on that one. Well scratch that last post but still what you have shouldn't be that complicated. Get the local group together and we should be able to get nearly anything done. Just say when.

All that actually needs to be put on now is the pitman arm, the steering stabilizer (1), and driver shock. When the car was being told, the wrecker guy connected it wrong and it yanked it out, but they are replacing the part itself and all.

So what kind of meat do we like? sausage, ribs, chicken, burgers? and drinks?

The 29th is no go for me. I still have the 22nd open. I have an errant to run that day but it shouldn't take me long. We need to figure out if we are having the club meeting on the 22nd or just the install party.

We can probably do the install party/club meeting at your house on the 22nd or if this idea is not good I think that the rest of the guys can help you on the 29th with your install.

Corpus member please voice your opinion.
