| I have the new bearings on order with it. I wasn't going to risk the old bearings. I don't have alot of experience, but i'm willing to try anything. i have done the powertrax before, when i he;ped Raul with his, that was pretty easy. any advice or pointers for the tru-trac would be much appreiciated. |

| you can find videos and some books for setting up the gears and find them for that exact axle and vehicle. You will need to pull the brakes, and shafts out a little. It is not hard but can be very time consuming. You do not just need the Bearings. You will need a master install kit with the shims. You will need a torque wrench. Gears are very perfect. they are amazing and must be set perfect. Otherwise they will jam and will wear quickly or at worst lock up on the freeway and explode. Most shops will charge $250 - 500 just for labor and that is for a good reason. They are labor intensive. |

Not to scare you but you have one chance to get the gears right. I would not do it blind. If you can not find someone who has done them before to help you, I would wait and just replace the spiders till you do. Otherwise best case scenario is you ring will look like your spiders.
Not a Jeep but very similar.

| Look for a driveline or transmission shop. Here we have nagalitios. Get some paste. You also need a dial indicator tool to measure backlash and pinion depth. |

| I can do gears, but I only do Ford 9's, 14 bolts, and D60's. they are alot easier than others. the 14 and ford 9 are the easiest by far and I have spent a day on a 14 bolt before. Do the rear first and if you can not get them to work, you can drive to a shop on the front axle. Just take the spiders out. |

| actually andy, i just replaced my gears this last weekend. Like Trout said, its not that complicated its just hella time consuming. I had the luxury of taking it to a guy with a frame lift, so we were working at eye level and could get proper leverage. Doing it in your garage or drive way will make this much harder and more than likely will require removal of the whole axel. Also you will need a press to put the berrings on the pinion. it isnt possible to be done other wise that I can see.
If youre not replacing the pinion and only doing the locker, then that wouldn't be so bad. The back lash tool is absolutley essintial, but not messing with the pinion would make life far easier. Either way man I'm game to help. You have my number, just text me. |

| I'm not going to mess with the pinion. I have no reason to. a press on the other hand, is something i'm goin to have to find. I ordered the inst kit today so far everything is goin to schedule. the locker will be here tomorrow. the bearings will be here on wed or thurs. I'm going to do the front first probably on wed and i'll start on the rear either thurs afternoon or fri morning. I took the week off so i could get things ready and give myself plenty of time to get it done. Tyler, Raul, I'll give yall a call when i get all the parts in. but so far it looks like fri the fun begins. |

| The front will go fast. You should be able to do it in about 2 hours. You wont need to bust the knuckles off just pull the wheel, brakes, and unit bearing off. I have left the spindle nut on the unit bearing and just pulled the shafts out with the unit bearing still connected. If you need to pull the spindle nut, it is a 36mm. Be careful when putting the shafts back in, you do not want to damage the seal inside. Slow, and easy. |
