We have had what I think is a lazy lifter for years. Now it is a major miss and it really shakes the Jeep at idle. Give it a bit of gas and it makes a few pops out the exhaust. I don't have the time to get to it right now. We had a major water leak in the house and we are in the process of replacing a bathroom and a bedroom. As well as building a new 2 car garage. Why does this always happen when there are already too many things happening?!?!?

Man, I hate when stuff like that happens. When it rains it pours sometimes.
I almost hate to ask, but is it possible you have a damaged plug wire, or a plug wire routed to the wrong plug? |

I agree with Hook-Em, could be just a bad wire burnt out causing a missfire. I have found over the years that most problems are something more simple like a wire than the worst case type involving engine problems. Hopefully it will be something simple you can laugh at later...

Yes, first step is going to be hitting all of the simple things first. It is pouring bad things right now. I have to finish repairing the water damage in my house first though.

Im not much of a mechanic, however everytime I go to the coast mine runs real rough and pops and misses at idle, and really rough at beach speed, 15 mph and under. Always ends up being the the fuel system from the salty sandy air down there. I know you have made a few trips down there. I always throw a can of sea foam in a full tank of gas, fixes it evey time. Just a thought. FYI, I usually have to clean the spark plugs after running the sea foam through it.

I store a boat year round at the coast, and had a similar problem this spring. The mechanic was quick to point out that it's not uncommon to get bad gas in the coastal towns. Also, the new fuel blends (ethanol) are prone to condensation with boats - essentially, water will form in your tank, not a bunch, but enough to cause problems if you don't use a stabilizer as boats tanks are vented. I was told to limit fills to either Exxon, Chevron or Shell, never use unbranded gas. Also, always use a fuel conditioner to stabilize your boat fuel as a general rule, especially if you plan to store it for more than 3 weeks in coastal areas. SeaFoam works wonders to fix fuel issues after the fact, but you are right about it regarding spark plugs.
I know fuels can wreak havoc with boats down there, might be affecting your Jeep too. Might want to try a fuel stabilizer when making your coast runs, and also make sure your fuel cap is in good working order too.
Good Luck
