| Marine needs blood transfusions in Houston Hollis Hudetz is at MD Anderson fighting Leukemia and desperately needs white blood cells donated in the next couple of weeks.* His family is from Colorado and doesn't know any Houstonians to donate locally.* I just talked to his mother, Elizabeth, who is currently trying to supply him with white blood cells but after 4 donations, she has to stop for a month.* Can you rally the troops to help?* His personal story is below: "My name is Hollis, I'm a 30-year old USMC Veteran, IT Engineer, Lymphoma survivor,*and I'm dealing with Leukemia right now.*My doctors want me to get White Blood Cell transfusions (which*are pretty rare) to try and fight off some infections since I don't have an immune system to do that myself. Basically I'm at a point where I need more than just antibiotics. The only issue is, the donators must be local to Houston, TX and I'm from Colorado with no one I know being out here.*Therefore, it is up to me to find donors. Ideally, I need a WBC transfusion every day for 3-4 weeks, so the more donors*the merrier! If you can donate, please call (713) 792-7777 to schedule an appointment: ** Location 1: Blood Donor Center - Holly Hall - 2555 Holly Hall, just East of Almeda. ** Location 2: Blood Donor Center - Mays Clinic (ACB) - 1220 Holcombe, Entrance 5, Floor 2, Elevator S. NOTES: - Blood type does not matter. - Qualified women (not pregnant or nursing) can donate*every other day up to 4 times. - Qualified men can donate every other day up to 5 times. Thank you so much again.*Don't hesitate to e-mail me with any other questions you have.*My mother Elizabeth or I*will get back to you as soon as possible! Very Respectfully, Hollis Hudetz hollis.hudetz@gmail.com * |

| After watching the videos from the Spirit of Liberty I was thinking about donating blood. I will call and schedule an appointment. That is a long drive from where I normally donate. However if those are the only places to donate I will go there.

| Does anybody know if blood donated in San Antonio would be able to be transported to Houston and remain viable? I've donated blood many times either through my church or work. I've also donated platelets at the South Texas Blood Bank. All of those were always to serve the local area though. I don't know if there is a way to donate for specific use outside yourself or family members. |

| Unfortunately, the shelf life of the stuff he needs is only 24 hours. If your interested, call and ask some questions. This is going to take a huge effort. There is a screening process and once approved contact me for his mothers number. She will help organize the scheduling. |

| Bizarro, your awesome. I also found out today that he is a jeeper. He rolled it a while back and had to part it out. So he has had a double whammy. This could be done with just a few of the right people. A handful with dedication could get this done. I know it is not easy but it could mean saving this Marines life. Not often a Civilian has that kind of opportunity. |

| PLEASE REMEMBER!!!!! If you know of anyone going to do this have them email me at Boddanno@aol.com. I have spoken with Hollis and I have a phone number for them to call once they are approved to give WBCs. There is a 24 hour shelf life so we need to schedule this right so there is not shelf rot. BTW, I found out he is an offroader as well. He just rolled his Jeep. |

| Hook-Em, They told me that my WBC would be used before I was able to make it back home from donating them. I don't know how much of an exaggeration that is, but it seems its used very fast.
Stouttrout, Apparently my work email system doesn't like aol. My email to you bounced back to me with complaints. I sent an email to Hollis' @gmail address in the OP. However if you can pass on to them that I am trying to help. I donated my platelets today. They said he was in need of those also. I am waiting for my WBC screen before I can donate the WBC. They said I would have to schedule that donation so it could be used that same day. I will let you know when I know more.
