PostSubject: D30 upgrade help   Mon 24 Jan 2011, 12:59 pm

I want to beef my my front axle and looking for some ideas/answers.

I read on JKO about the R-SE outer sleeve.
http://www.rockslideengineering.com/servlet/the-10/R-dsh-SE-Bombshell-Outer-Axle/Detail

I don't know if I should do an inner sleeve also.

I was also thinking about a truss for the front axle long side. I heard about PolyP having one, and Rock Krawler.
http://www.rockkrawler.com/pages/catalog/index.php?r_itemID=195

I need to add in some gussets also. I see that that R-SE has a inner and outer and gusset kit for $320. Should I put a truss on top of that?

I saw a few other options but they involved cutting off brackets which I didn't want to do. I need to find a shop in Houston that can do this pretty quick. I can't leave the jeep since I need it for my daily driver.

I assume I will also change out my axle shaft at some point too. Any advice there would be helpful too.

Gears would be down the road after this.

No way you'll be able to sleeve it without leaving it with someone for a day, unless George has time to do it, but he's been working like 24/7. I'd call and ask him about all that stuff.

you could go with a full truss going from the pumpkin to the spring perch. add c-gussets. for extra beef Laughing you could throw a RSE outter sleeve on before the truss. also do some LCA skids while you're at it. That should more or less button up the housing.

All that money and you still have a 30?!? You can find a 44 on that other forum at a good price. Or you can wait for Tim to change out his out to 60's, he's changed everything else out already! Suspect

Good idea. I will get this stuff together then get the info for that shop in Baytown you told me about.

Check Ten Factory on the shafts. They will replace them when you twist'em. Hard to beat that.
