| I have a 2000 TJ, I'm going to upgrade to 16x8" wheels, and 265/75R16 GY Duratracs. the set of wheels that I like have 5" backspacing on them. I'm wondering how far they'll stick out past the fenders. does anyone have wheels with this BS' on a TJ? (I will be putting a 2"BBL on b4 getting the wheels/tires) |

| The backspacing is measured from the inside or back lip of the tim to the back of the mounting surface. 5" would not not stick out, it sounds like they would be tucked under the fenders. The bigger the backspacing the less the rims stick out.... somebody correct me if I'm wrong, that's the way I understand it _________________ Life is too short to spend it with idiots! 3in Full Traction Premium Plus, Bilstien 5100 shocks, Bilstien 5100 steering stabilizer, 35x12.50x17 Toyo open country M/T, AEV Wheels, Lightforce 170, Rugged Ridge light bar, BesTop bikini top & duster, Superchip Programmer, Superior 5.13's and axle tube seals, Poison Spyder diff covers, Xenon H.I.D. headlights & driving lights. |

| Yes I know what backspacing is. Currently I have 30x9.50x15 BFG T/A KOs on 15x8 Gamblers with 5.5" of backspacing, just the sidewalls of the tires stick out past the fenders. I figured a wheel with 5.0" of backspacing, would add a half inch, and a 265/75R16 tire (31.7x10.50x16) (One inch wider than my current tire) would add another half inch per tire side, thus totaling one inch of extra tire protrusion from the fenders. I was wondering if anyone had this set up and pics of this combo. I'm just wanting the oversized tire look without getting the skate board look. thank you |

| Don't got a TJ, but your math looks about right. I would also consider the clearance on the inside of the tires (trackbar & control arms). The most annoying thing is getting the look you're going for, but get rubbing on the swaybar or control arms at full turn / lock when backing up . yeah, been there. _________________ 08 4 door....BANANAMAN yellow round tires.... some stuff added.... more stuff wanted.... even more stuff needed /I _I_,[____], L-I_I_I -OIIIIIIO- ()_)....()_) ... | Thanks for the reply, I will look at the clearances on the sway bars/arms and stuff. I read online that I can adjust the steering stops by adding some washers, I've got a wicked turning radius right now, probably more than I need. if needed, I think I could adjust that without noticing the loss too much. but thanks for the insight. |
