| Howdy everyone, I'm new to the site and just posted on the introductions. I've got a '86 CJ7 that was restored and I'm missing some parts to the horn I think. I don't know exactly how it works, but I believe there is supposed to be a "plunger" with a spring around it in the steering column. The spring is there but that's it. I installed a new horn and the wire was there to hook up to it but I'm not sure what parts I'm missing on the column. I can't find a diagram or the parts online. All the horn kits don't show the plunger and spring, just the metal ring and ground wire. Any help would be awesome. Thanks and I look forward to talking with y'all. |

| I pull this info from some other forums I hope this may help you Your CJ uses the standard GM steering column from the 80's. Any 80 + steering column can be a donor (if you want to go junk yard scrounging). If you want new parts, tell them you have a 82 Firebird or Camero or something like that - the parts will fit.

| Thanks for the info. I'll try finding a schematic for one of those. Even if I found the parts, I wouldnt know how they go. |

| I think you talking about what is called a "clock" spring it allows the steering wheel to turn and the horn to work without wires in between _________________ Life is too short to spend it with idiots! 3in Full Traction Premium Plus, Bilstien 5100 shocks, Bilstien 5100 steering stabilizer, 35x12.50x17 Toyo open country M/T, AEV Wheels, Lightforce 170, Rugged Ridge light bar, BesTop bikini top & duster, Superchip Programmer, Superior 5.13's and axle tube seals, Poison Spyder diff covers, Xenon H.I.D. headlights & driving lights. |

| Haven't had time yet. Found an old jeep to get parts off of, just didn't have the tools with me. |

| Welcome! I would recomend picking up a Hayne's manual for your CJ. they come in real handy when trying to figure out what parts are missing from an assembly, and how an assembly goes together.
