PostSubject: Hardtop   Tue 27 Jul 2010, 6:56 am

I found a guy in houston that will trade me my soft top and $500 for his 2010 hardtop. From what I can tell I will need a wiring harness and new wiper lever to operate the rear wiper? Is there anything else I will need for the hardtop to work or that I should make sure I get from the hardtop seller?
Thanks

Make sure you get the pieces that slide underneath the lip of the body. This is what the hardtop bolts to.

FYI, I know the guy you're talking about. I had a deal with him to buy that top when it first went on CL. To make a long story short, he ended up backing out of the deal b/c a better deal came along.

Good luck.

Does the wiring harness include the new control knob to replace the factory wiper control? I am pretty sure the softtop front wiper control knob doesn't have the control for the rear.

Yeah you have to change the wiper control and run the rear harness for the rear wiper .
I found the complete kit for $130

I gave my wife my hardtop but never bought a new wire harness. I guess I should look for that kit you found. $130 isn't too bad. She has been driving without the wipers in back for a year now. I guess I could swap our two wire harnesses and save that money but I don't want to do that work twice.

Sorry to hear that bud. He screwed me over b/c you came along with a better offer and now he just did the same to you. I'm sorry to see it happen but I can't say that I'm surprised.

Don't sweat the hardtop stuff. They come available every now and then. Hell, I've been searching for the right one for over a year now. The deal with that guy was the 3rd person who flaked out on me. I think it must be the Jeep Gods telling me that I'm better off in the soft top!

http://www.wildboarproducts.com/fastbacktops.html this is the wild boar top.

I would wait rather than buy one from the dealer. I mean I have nothing against Love Chrysler, I bought mine there, and know the owner and her husband personally, but You can find a used one way cheaper and component install cant be that complicated.
