| This has never happened to me before, until yesterday......
i know welding galvanized steel can be dangerous, although i had never actually experienced it, yesterday i was welding some parts up laying on the bench, one of witch was a piece of tube that i THOUGHT was aluminized...i was wrong, it was sandblasted galvanized........about a hour later i got very nauseous, dizzy as hell, stomach cramps, a killer headache and my body was hurting all over.
about 2 pm yesterday i sucked down a bunch of milk and went to bed.............i slept untill 10 this morning ....about 20 hrs worth of sleep
a awoke to the same stomach cramps, and a slight headache...........i am feeling better but not really 100% yet......still have the brass shakes pretty bad and feel a bit discombobulated.........
any how read this and be CAREFUL http://www.anvilfire.com/iForge/tutor/safety3/index.htm _________________ ITS HIP TO BE SQUARE [embed-flash(width,height)] |

| WOW...sorry to hear, hope all is well ...AND....are you taking the advise from the linked site? "If you KNOW you have been exposed to possibly harmful metal dust, fumes or vapors, INSIST on being tested for metal poisoning and explain why.
THINK when you are working. Consider the repercussions. Be safe, live long.

| Hope you get better G. That is some very good info for us "garage" welders. I'm about to start building a small trailer, I think I'll do most of the welding outside now. |

| I've heard that can happen with galvanized steel. I'm glad to hear you're feeling better.
A friend told me it was like the flu but only worse. It sounds like you had it pretty bad. Hang in there bud. |

| That sucks man. Ive welded on galvanized stuff a bunch of times, but never got sick or nuth'n. One of the guys that works for us got sick once while cutting out some galvanized decking in a tunnel at a grain elevator. He was not liking it. Anyway, hope you shake the shitty feeling. corey d |

| you may need to drink some pedialyte to help with dehydration. don't drink sports drinks like gatorade. Sounds like you may be seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. |

Eh?
Hey George, since you're laid up anyway, why not post a few pics of the progress on my rig?
Haha, seriously, though, I don't know what the difference is between aluminized galvanized vs sandblasted galvanized and how to tell them apart, but get better and whatever you do don't make that mistake again! |

| If he's got the case of the mud butts, he'll want to stay away from sports drinks. Same goes for reversal of fortune. The high sugar contents of sports drinks can make things worse. |
