Well get crackin' and we might be able to take some time to install it for you while you're out and about. If you do a search in the JK section at JeepForum.com you'll find PLENTY of CB related stuff, but check out these two threads specifically: CB Model and Installation Preferences and Cobra 75 WXST install pics JK.

Personally I'd recommend this kit from Right Channel Radios. It has everything you'll need except a drill for the mount, basically. And if you pull into a garage or other low-ceiling space on a regular basis, you'll want to double-check how long your antenna can be from whichever mount you go with.

EDIT: Not trying to hijack the thread. Others with JK's here (I've got a TJ) may have more advice. Might be worth starting a separate thread. Having a CB is a really good idea.

Correct?

I've only been there once- the road dead ends at the beach, and you can only go left/north (towards galveston) because the Colorado River blocks the south.... http://maps.yahoo.com/#mvt=h&lat=28.598141&lon=-95.977436&zoom=17&q1=matagorda%252C%2520tx

Man, I would help you with the CB. But damn its hot out there. I can last about 5 minutes in this heat (just long enough to smoke a cig) before I start to melt.

We'll be headed down early Friday morning.

But I don't think you'll have trouble finding us. Just drive down to Matagorda beach, then head down the beach. Eventually you will find a big group of jeeps hanging out. Most likely a big pirate flag flying next to them. There's no way you'll miss this bunch of hooligans!

The SA group is planning on meeting just outside 1604/I10 at 9AM.
That would put us at El Campo around 11.30-ish. It'll be 12:30-1PM when we leave the BBQ place.

I am going. But I don't know exactly when I will leave. I am going to try and leave on Friday afternoon but it could also be early Saturday morning. I don't have a CB so I hope I can find you guys. Are there any Houston area convoys leaving Friday or Saturday?

The last I read about the S.A. convoy was 7AM. That would put them on my side of town around 10-11AM Friday which is earlier that I plan to leave.

Dutchboy- Mikeska's BBQ is awesome. You won't regret that for lunch. But be aware that they lunch line is usually pretty long.

And while you are there... grab a loaf of his pineapple bread!!! I grabbed a loaf of the banana nut bread to take on a trip to Corpus and Mr. Mikeska asked if I had tried the pineapple - I politely told him that I was a big fan of the banana nut bread and that I only had enough money for one loaf.... he gave me the pineapple loaf to try and now I am stuck on both - anytime I go south or west I have to stop and get some.

That place kicks azz!
