i guess it depends on budget and how old/responsible your son is..........teenagers and jeeps can lead to mudholes and other stupidity...........and cb's dont like mud and water so much
big budget.............. cobra 29 , peaked and tuned, noise canceling mic, mounted in a tuffy console with all wilson hardware and antenna.........easily spent 4-500 on this
low budget..............walmart special midland or cobra cb @29.99...mounted whereever it will fit and a cheap antenna and mount from the local truckstop...........maybe 60bux total<-----------thats what i run_________________ ITS HIP TO BE SQUARE [embed-flash(width,height)] |

| I've got a cobra 29 peeked and tuned ad it's mounted under the glove box in my jeep....but you can also mount them on the dash, under the dash...I have only got about 200 in mine but it's an awesome radio! _________________ If you can't play with the big dogs then get off the porch! | Mr.RonGilbert wrote: | | It's like when you hear a fire truck with it's sirens full blast.... you just have to take a look at what is getting flamed..... |

i dident think ya would
but we never know.........
ive never seen a cb radio itself that dident work good enough for trail use, every one ive seen that dident work worth a crap was due to installation/tuning issues
i like the walmart cheep'o because i often run with no top and doors...........no biggie if it gets stolen
the cobra 75 is cool for the same reason, everything is in the mic
the cobra 25/29 is king of range(peaked @45watts or so) but spendy and mucho bling......_________________ ITS HIP TO BE SQUARE [embed-flash(width,height)] |

| I ran the Walmart version cb and used some industrial strength velcro and mounted it right behind the center console. This way if i dont need the cb, i can just remove it. The velcro is pretty solid as i have a hell of a time removing it. Went to the truck stop and bought a 4 ft firestick antenna and mounted it on the spare tire rack. |
