Discount Tire recall

Likely does not affect anyone here, but wanted to post up in case

My assistant had a flat yesterday after work. Upon inspection she discovered that the valve stem was dry rotted and cracked on that tire, and the other 3 were just about to go as well. Someone told her that Discount Tire had done a recall because of that. I looked it up on Discount's website to confirm (Since my tires are also from Discount). Fortunately for me, I bought my tires May '08, so they are not in the recall date range.

If you have received our Customer Advisory letter or were a Dill Region Discount Tire Customer between August 1, 2006 and July 31, 2007, you may have had a defective Dill Air Control valve stem installed on your vehicle. On December 9, 2008, Dill announced a safety recall of the valve stems. If you are a potentially affected Discount Tire/America's Tire customer and you have not already scheduled an appointment for free valve stem replacement service, please schedule an appointment online, or call 1-888-356-0262 to schedule a free replacement of your potentially defective valve stems.

interesting.... that fact that you have an assistant is anyway Very Happy

Discount Tire is a madhouse, at least the one over here is, this should bring a rush of folks to contribute to the madness. Hopefully no one was hurt because of the valve stem problem...
